Open Call: BauSongs Songwriting Camp

Are you curious about creating new music in a setting that you may not have tried before? Then BauSongs could be something for you – a songwriting camp for Danish-based and Berlin-based musicians.

BauSongs takes place in Berlin from 18th to 22nd of November 2024. The camp is based on the Danish »højskole« tradition, where collaboration and curiosity are in focus. At the camp you get a chance to work together with fellow musicians to create new music and to explore the culture of Berlin through artist visits and concert experiences. Think of BauSongs as a training camp, where you are challenged and inspired in your songwriting process in an open environment that welcomes experimentation.

The setting itself is inspiring: BauSongs is held in studios at Bauteil3 in the famous and former airport Tempelhof, which today is a center for creative and cultural purposes. Here you are invited to create new music together with the other participants. Teaching includes various tasks to spur inspiration, continuous feedback and changing group constellations. BauSongs three teachers are Greta Schenk (GRETA), Kaspar Kaae (songwriter in CODY and film composer) and Michael Møller (moi Caprice and The Mountains). All three have a close understanding of how to teach in the »højskole« spirit and have in-depth knowledge of how Berlin can inspire the songwriting process. In addition, the teaching is supplemented by selected musician and industry visits.

All Danish-based and Berlin-based musicians can apply for participation. However, the camp is primarily aimed at upcoming talents. 10 spots are up for grabs.

Why participate:

  • You will explore and get inspiration for your songwriting process
  • You get an opportunity to experiment with collaboration in various constellations
  • You get an opportunity to create network with your musical colleagues from Denmark and Berlin
  • You get insight and connections to the Danish and German music industry
  • You will experience Berlin and its culture in a new way

The hope is that the collaborative process as well as the participants’ different backgrounds, cultures and genres will result in completely new ideas, songs and approaches to the songwriting process. The participants live together, eat together and explore Berlin together. The hope is furthermore that BauSongs will result in long-term collaborations between musicians from Denmark and Berlin and that the participants will gain insight into work methods that will further their musical career in the long term.
