Launched as a joint initiative of the synth-punk band Mexican Radio and the citizens’ association Zukunftswerkstatt Heinersdorf, the one-day Heinersdorfer Punk Fest in Pankow brought together bands and fans with free admission in September 2020. On an open-air stage at the turning loop of the M2 tram line – a place not usually hopping with pop culture – various local acts like Lassie and DAS DAS celebrated the spirit of punk and Heinersdorf community, presenting synth-punk, post-punk, Neue Deutsche Welle and new wave.
