Musicboard joins collaboration on Danish-German songwriting camp in Berlin

Since 2022, the Danish music funding organisation ROSA has hosted songwriting camps in Berlin under the BauSongs project. With Musicboard Berlin as a new partner, the initiative is now strengthened and expanded, focusing on enhancing collaboration between Danish and Berlin music communities. Berlin-based artists can now apply to take part in this year’s BauSongs camp in Berlin, taking place from 18 to 22 November 2024.

BauSongs came to life in 2022 as part of the Neustart project in Denmark, which aimed to reestablish and strengthen collaboration between the Danish and German music scenes in the wake of the Covid pandemic.

BauSongs is a cross-cultural songwriting camp where the participants jointly develop ideas, create new music and explore cultural life in Berlin through artist visits and concert experiences. It is inspired by the Danish »højskole« tradition, an alternative type of school for non-formal continuing education where collaboration and curiosity are focus.

SUPPORT AND INSPIRATION TO WRITE NEW SONGS

In addition to each other, the participants also collaborate with the camp’s three mentors Kaspar Kaae (songwriter in CODY and film composer), Greta Schenk (GRETA) and Michael Møller (moi Caprice and The Mountains). BauSongs offers a unique approach where the emphasis is on giving participants tools and insights that extend beyond the BauSongs camp. Taking place in the Bauteil3 studios at Tempelhof airport, BauSongs is a training camp where the participants are challenged and inspired in their songwriting processes in an open environment that welcomes experimentation.

COOPERATION CREATES SUSTAINABLE ARTISTIC CONNECTIONS

Now, three years after its inception, Musicboard Berlin teams up with ROSA and joins the BauSongs project. Because BauSongs is not just a songwriting camp, but also an opportunity to build a bridge between Danish and Berlin music communities, projects like BauSongs are crucial for creating sustainable international connections. They can be the starting point for long-term artistic collaborations and offer the participating artists deep knowledge and understanding of the respective music markets and cultural scenes.

More information on BauSongs, on ROSA, and on the new cooperation are available on ROSA’S website, including an interview with Maureen Noe, Musicboard’s Referent for Artist Funding and International Projects.

OPEN CALL FOR MUSICIANS FROM BERLIN AND DENMARK

All Danish-based and Berlin-based musicians can apply for participation. However, the camp is primarily aimed at upcoming talents. 10 spots are up for grabs. The application deadline is October 6, 2024, and selected participants will receive a response by October 14. BauSongs takes place in Berlin from 18 to 22 November 2024.
